Tivita launches Tom, an AI assistant that writes medical records during consultations

1–2 minutes

Brazilian healthtech company Tivita has launched Tom, a digital agent powered by artificial intelligence that records conversations between doctors and patients and generates a draft medical report. The doctor reviews and signs off on the text, while the tool is limited to transcription and does not make diagnoses, prescriptions, or clinical decisions.

The system marks a new milestone for the company, which previously only automated processes before and after consultations. “The remaining bottleneck was recording what happens in the consultation room,” explains CEO Claudio Franco.

The tool has processed over 3 million medical records on Tivita’s platform. Recordings are deleted after the text is generated, and only the final record is stored.

The company aims to transcribe 100,000 hours of consultations per month, equivalent to over 11 years of continuous audio processed monthly.

Tivita’s other digital agents

The company already has Júlia, who manages appointments via WhatsApp, and Tais, who handles insurance bureaucracy. Together, these assistants account for around 30% of recurring revenue, a figure expected to rise to 45–50% in the next 12 months, according to Franco.

Plans for integration with other systems

Tivita plans to expand Tom to work with medical records from any platform, particularly in hospitals and health insurers still using legacy systems, which are difficult and expensive to replace. “Our focus is on hospital environments and verticalized operators, where many legacy platforms are still in use,” says Franco.

The company’s history

Founded in 2023 by Claudio Franco and Amilton Paglia, Tivita raised R$32 million in 2024 in a funding round led by US-based FinTech Collective. With over a thousand clients, the company has processed more than R$1 billion in payments.

Franco believes that adopting one digital agent encourages the use of others, reinforcing the company’s growth strategy based on automation within the clinic and hospital ecosystem.
