Anthropic’s new AI assistant, Claude Duet, promises to automate professional tasks

2–3 minutes

How does Claude Duet work?

Launched on October 21, 2026, Claude Duet is an AI agent that can receive a task, decide which applications to use, and execute the work in a virtual cloud environment without requiring step-by-step commands.

The tool can access connected emails and calendars, generate daily priority summaries, draft responses, monitor pending issues, create data dashboards, build presentations, and develop financial projections, among other complex tasks.

Anthropic explains that the application uses the Claude Opus 5.5 model and leverages the memory, skills, and connections configured in the user’s Claude account. Work can continue even when the user closes the application or steps away from the computer.

What tasks can Claude Duet perform?

For example, a professional can ask the agent to gather information about a company before a meeting. The system consults connected services, organizes the data, and produces a summary for review.

In another scenario, the assistant can identify outstanding invoices in a financial system, draft collection messages, prepare campaign materials, create documents, or organize sales information.

The key difference from a traditional chatbot is its ability to execute sequential steps, interact with different tools, and deliver ready-to-review files, rather than just responding within a conversation.

How to use AI agents in daily professional life?

The availability of tools that perform tasks increases the need to understand how artificial intelligence works and to define which activities can be delegated to it. To take advantage of these resources, users must know how to set clear goals, provide adequate context, and evaluate the results produced.

Can Claude Duet act without the user’s permission?

Despite its autonomy, Claude Duet includes approval steps for sensitive operations. Before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting items, the system displays the intended action and waits for the user’s confirmation.

Anthropic has also implemented security mechanisms to detect malicious instructions in emails and web pages. However, the company admits that the agent may misinterpret messages or incorrectly assess the urgency of certain situations.

Who can use Claude Duet?

In its initial phase, the application is available in a research version in the United States, subject to a waiting list, for subscribers of the Claude Pro and Max plans. Access is granted gradually, with no guarantee of immediate entry.

Usage can be done in iOS and Android applications or through a browser. During the testing period, there is no additional charge for eligible subscribers, but consumption follows the limits of the respective Claude plans.

The feature is not yet available in the Team and Enterprise plans. Anthropic warns that the system is not infallible and recommends reviewing results and carefully approving actions before confirming them.
