Meta Unveils Enterprise AI Platform and Taps MongoDB CEO for Leadership Role
Strategic Expansion into Business AI Solutions
Meta announced on Monday that it is rolling out the Meta Enterprise Platform, a new venture designed to bring the company’s artificial intelligence capabilities to businesses and corporate clients. To steer this effort, the social media giant recruited Chirantan “CJ” Desai, the chief executive of database software leader MongoDB.
The initiative builds on the recent debut of Muse, Meta’s personal AI assistant introduced earlier this month, which can handle tasks such as sending emails and arranging travel for users.
In the rollout, Meta plans to expose its entire AI technology stack to enterprises and developers. The portfolio includes Muse, Meta Business Agent, the Muse API, Muse Code, and additional tools.
“Over the coming years, AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations,” Desai said in a statement. “Meta has a unique role to play because it is bringing together advanced models and leading agents with a proven track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale. Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on turning its AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses.”
The push could help Meta recoup the substantial investment it has been making in artificial intelligence research and development.
Leadership Shift at MongoDB Following CEO Departure
News of Desai’s departure sent MongoDB’s stock tumbling by more than 17%. The company has named Dev Ittycheria, a former chief executive, as interim leader while its board conducts a search for a permanent replacement.
